Sault dominates middle school track meet

RUDYARD -- Kyle Ward won two events for the Sault Middle School boys track team on Thursday as they dominated a meet against the Rudyard Bulldogs. The Sault came out on top 123-13.

Ward won the 100 meter dash (12.73), and the 200 (27.22). Ryan Gleason won the 3200 (12:33.36), while Andy Castagne won the 54-meter hurdles (9.69). Ryan Gleason also took the 800 (2:39.50), while Austin Rogers won the 1600 (5:49.00). Dom Emerson won the 300-hurdles (33.88), while Adam Pancheri took the high jump (5-0). Gary Hershell won the long jump (13-10), and Sean Voris rounded out the Sault winners in the shot put (42-7.5).

The Blue Devils also got wins in the 400 relay (55.86), the 800 relay (1:59), the 1600 relay (4:45.30), and the 3200 relay (10:58.80).

The Bulldogs got a pair of wins from Trent Salo, in the 400 (1:03.10) and pole vault (9-0).

For the Sault girls, Ashley Bumstead won a pair of events as the Devils won 102-20. Bumstead won the 1600-meter run (7:02.60), and the high jump (3-10). Jessica Green won the 3200 (14:50.53), Lonna Gorenflo took the 55 hurdles (10.6). Courtney Hill won the 800 (3:14.80), and Danielle Fegan won the 400 (1:12.80). Wrindy Shann took the 70 dash (10.62), Rachael Smart won the 200 hurdles (38.10) and Katelyn Myers won the long jump (11-5.5).

The Sault also got wins in the 400 relay (1:01.16), the 800 relay (2:10.20), the 1600 relay (5:20.19), and the 3200 relay (12:56.70). For Rudyard, Dana VanSloten won the 100-meter dash (14.62), and the 200 (32.94). Alyse Witmer won the shot put as well for the Bulldogs (35-9.5).
