UNIVERSITY CENTER -- Lake Superior State senior Aaron Litzner set a new Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference indoor record in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:36.24. He also placed second in the 3,000 with a time of 8:40.57 during the GLIAC Championships held Friday and Saturday at Saginaw Valley State University.
Steve Eles was fifth, Jeff Thuss 12th, and Andy Cojeen 14th in the 3,000. For the Laker women, Amy Busfield was 11th, and Jody Sauer was 19th.
LSSU's Jerry Drennan was 17th in the 5,000, and Dave Partyke was 20th.
In the men's one-mile run, Eles finished fourth, while Anthony Pavicic was sixth, and Justin Gretzinger was 12th. Ryan Clapp placed 20th. Busfield was 13th for the Laker women.
Pavicic was 10th, while Ross Malatinski was right behind him in 11th, and Gretzinger was 17th in the 800-run. The Laker men's 3,200 relay team finished third.
Dianna Kintz tied for second, and Karen Abramczyk tied for eighth in the women's high jump. Abramczyk was sixth in the triple jump, and Maureen Maguire was eighth.
