SAULT STE. MARIE -- The Sault High track team competed in a double dual meet with Gaylord and Traverse City West on Tuesday.
In the girls meet the Sault earned a split. The home Blue Devils topped Gaylord 99-52, but fell 126-36 to T.C. West.
The Sault swept Gaylord and T.C.W. in three events. Emily Baily won the 110 hurdles (17.61) and Kayce Lawrence took the 3200 (12:37.02). The Sault also won the 3200 relay (10:41.18).
That was the extent of the Sault wins against Traverse City West, but there were more against Gaylord.
Lawrence notched a win in the 1600 (5:53.97), while Emily Browning won both the pole vault (8-0), and the high jump (4-4). Michelle Lynn won the 100 (13.96), and the Sault swept the relay events The blue and white notched wins in the 400 (1:03.9), the 800 (1:59.95), the 1600 (4:50.0), and the 3200.
The Sault turned in some solid performances, but dropped both competitions in the boys meet. Gaylord downed the Sault 99-64, and the Blue Devils fell to the Titans 118-46.
The Sault was led by Steve Hank, who won both the 110 (17.15), and the 300 meter hurdle races (43.96), and was on the winning 1600 relay team (3:42.55). Other Sault winners included Peter Duesing in the pole vault (9-6), Craig Cooper in the mile (4:54.54) , and Tony Abramson in the 800 (2:04.72). Matt Labron won the long jump (17-11).
Second-place finishers for the Sault included Neal McLeod in the high jump and the 400, Mike Kennedy in the 110 and 300 hurdles, and Perry Pingatore in the 100.
