Sault runs at Traverse City
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Sault High track team competed in a double dual meet Monday.
In the girls meet, Traverse City Central out-pointed the Sault 110-52, while Cadillac edged the Blue Devils 80-76.
For the Sault, Emily Bailey won the 100 hurdles (17.9), high jump (4-6) and long jump (14-3.5) against Cadillac.
Kayce Lawrence claimed the 1600 (5:39), 800 (2:38) and 3200 (12:37). Bobbi Kennedy won the 300 hurdles (54.1), while Emily Browning took the pole vault (8-6). Kennedy, Lindsey Andrews, Ashley Arbic and Desi Payment won the 1600 relay in 4:41.
Against TC Central, Erica Green won the discus (86-9) and Browning prevailed in the pole vault (8-6). The 800 relay of Arbic, Desi Payment, Alison Watchorn and Michelle Lynn won in 1:58.
In the boys meet, Cadillac ran past the Sault 109-51 while Traverse City also beat the Blue Devils.
Matt Labron won the long jump (17-11) and was on the winning 800 meter relay team, while Tony Abramson won the high jump (5-4) and was also on the 800 relay.
Other event winners for the Blue Devils included Peter Duesing in the pole vault, and the 2-mile relay crew of Price McAllister and Ben Martin.
Also scoring points for the Sault were Steve Hank in the 110 hurdles and pole vault, Andy Castagne and Jared Gleason in the 300 hurdles, Neal McLeod in high jump, Perry Pingatore and Mike Kennedy in the 100, Tyler Gage in the 400, McAllister in the 800 and long jump, and Gary Herschell in the 200.
The Sault is competing at the St. Ignace freshman-sophomore meet today.
