Eles breaks 4:00 in metric mile

ANN ARBOR - Lake Superior State's Steve Eles clocked a 3:59.96 in the men's 1,500-meter run during a meet held Friday at the University of Michigan and became the first Laker to break 4:00 in the metric mile.
Eles, who is training for the upcoming NCAA Championship 3,000-meter steeplechase, finished sixth in the race. Laker Anthony Pavicic was 15th in the men's 800 run in 1:54.82.

EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. - Lake Superior State senior Steve Eles clocked a 9:41.90 in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase Thursday to finish eighth in his heat and 17th overall in the preliminary round of the NCAA II Track and Field Championships.
Eles failed to advance to the finals. He was more than a half minute off his best time.
The LSSU senior, who is from Sudbury, Ont., is ranked fourth in the steeplechase in Canada and will compete in the Canadian Senior Nationals and Pan-Am Time Trials later this summer.
