Records tumble at ADSB cross-country meet

Eight new time records were established during the Algoma District School Board cross-country meet at Kinsmen Park.

Overall school champion Rosedale and Pinewood each won twice, setting three records in the process, while Queen Elizabeth, Parkland, Prince Charles and Hornepayne schools also had participants establish new marks.

Rosedale's Brandon Shamess (eight minutes, 19 seconds) won the nine-year-old boys' category and Alexis Shamess (eight minutes, 11 seconds) captured the 11-year-old girls division.

The Pinewood record-setter was Sean Plumley (seven minutes, 47 seconds) in the 11-year-old boys' category. Cait Tomlinson won the 13-year-old girls' category in 11 minutes, 57 seconds for Pinewood.

The other record-setters included Ben R. McMullin's Dan Graf (10 minutes, 20 seconds) in the boys' 13-year-old category; Queen Elizabeth's Drew Johnson (eight minutes, six seconds) in the 10-year-old boys' category; Parkland's Carissa Holley (11 minutes, 30 seconds) in the 12-year-old girls' category; Prince Charles' Richard MacLennan (10 minutes, 53 seconds) in the 12-year-old boys' category; and Hornepayne's Kristina Smith (nine minutes, 10 seconds) in the nine-year-old girls' category.

Bay View's Ariel Herriman took the girls' 10-year-old category in nine minutes, two seconds.
