Sault boys finish 5th at BNC meet
GAYLORD -- The Sault High boys track team took part in the Big North Conference Championship meet in on Thursday afternoon and finished fifth, recording 30 points.
Petoskey won the meet with 145, while Traverse City Central finished second with 118. T.C. West was third with 105, while Gaylord placed fourth with 70. Alpena took sixth with 28, while Cadillac was seventh with 23 and Cheboygan was eighth with five.
Marc McDonough picked up the only win for the Sault, taking the long jump (20-6). He also finished third in the 200. The 800 relay team of Peter Galo, Dion Josiah, Kyle Ward, and McDonough finished third at the meet, but broke the school record (1:33.7) by a full second. Josiah, Ward, and Galo teamed with Mark Bisdorf to finish fourth in the 400.
The Sault girls team finished seventh in the meet, although point totals were not available.
T.C. Central won the meet.
Emily Browning earned the only win of the day for the Sault, taking the pole vault (9-0). The next best finish for the Sault was a fourth in the 3200 relay by Bobbi Kennedy, Sandra Day, Ashley Arbic, and Dani Fegan.
The Sault will run again on Tuesday in St. Ignace at the Meet of Champions.
