Rudyard boys, Cheboygan girls win cross country races
RUDYARD -- The Rudyard boys cross country team prevailed in a three-team cross country meet Monday.
The Bulldogs finished with 34 points, while Cheboygan had 40 and St. Ignace 51.
Justin Hoolsema led the Bulldogs with a third-place overall finish in a time of 19 minutes, 11 seconds at the school farm 5K course. Alex Malaski was sixth in 19:40, Isiah Otten was 7th in 20:04, Josh Kaminski was 8th in 20:10 and Kyle Rice took 10th in 20:41.
Cheboygan's Paul Evans was the boys' medalist in 18:33.
For St. Ignace, Donnie McLeod was 5th in 19:25, Pat Springsteen was 9th in 20:36, Kody King placed 11th in 22:00, Jake Weiss was 12th in 22:01 and Nathan Zimmerman took 14th in 22:42.
Cheboygan prevailed over Rudyard in the girls' meet. The Chiefs' Ashley Tryban was the girls' medalist in 20:3.
The Chiefs finished with 25 team points and Rudyard had 36.
Charlotte Folkersman led the Bulldogs, finishing second in 22:01. Stephanie Folkersma finished 3rd in 22:16. Sara English was 7th in 25:24, Alisha Thompson was 8th in 25:24, Mary Couling was 16th in 29:25 and Beth English ran 17th in 30:22.
