Blue Devils run at Lancer meet

MIDLAND -- The Sault High cross country teams were in action over the weekend at the Lancer Invitational at Bullock Creek High School. The boys finished fifth in the nine-team field with 117 points, while the girls were also fifth with 119.

Saginaw Heritage won the boys meet with 39, while Bay City Western was next with 72. Alma was third with 75, and Midland was fourth with 112. Bay City John Glenn took sixth with 140, while Chesaning placed seventh with 160, and Ogemaw Heights was eighth with 208. Saginaw Arthur Hill was ninth with 290.

Stu Chipman was the top finisher for the Blue Devils, touring the course in 18:14 for a 16th place finish. Tyler Gage was right behind Chipman for 17th place (18:14), and Walter Bennette was 20th (18:23). Ryan Gleason placed 29th for the Devils (18:53), and Ethan Parker was 35th (19:22).

For the girls, Midland finished first with 30 points, while Bay City Western was second with 80. Ogemaw Heights took fourth with 93, and Saginaw Heritage was fourth with 119. Alma grabbed sixth with 128, while Bay City John Glenn was seventh with 179. Chesaning was eighth with 204, and Saginaw Arthur Hill took ninth with 268.

Lindsey LaLonde was the first Blue Devil to cross the line. She finished in 22:39 for 18th place, while Brittany Ockenfels took 21st (23:00), and Sandra Day placed 23rd (23:11). Ashlee Andrews took 28th for the Blue Devils (23:31), and Stephanie Day was 29th (23:32).
