Graf & Glibota Set New Records at NOSSA Track & Field in Sudbury

Dominik Graf of Sir James Dunn and Matt Glibota of Korah Collegiate both broke NOSSA records in Day One of the NOSSA Track and Field events in Sudbury.

Graf set his record in the Junior Boys 3000 metre race with a time of 9:23.86 beating the old NOSSA record of 9:23.98. Graf also picked up Gold Medals in the 1500 and 800 meter events.

Glibota broke the record in the Junior Boys Long Jump with a jump of 5.88 metres beating the old record of 5.79 metres. Glibota also picked up a win in the triple jump.

Alanzo Clarke of White Pines continued his dominance in the Senior Boys running events capturing the win in both the 100 and 200 meter races. John Harvey of St. Mary's also picked up two medals, winning gold in the steeplechase and bronze in the 3000 meters.

In Senior Girls, Cassandra McCaig of Korah picked up three medals, a gold in the long jump and two silvers in the 200 meters and triple jump. Sara Bullock of St. Mary's won gold in the high jump while in the relay it was Korah winning the 4-x-100 with St. Mary's capturing the 4-x-400.

Other Junior Boys winners included Sir James Dunn's Dan Lalonde in the javelin, Eric Noland in the 100 meter hurdles, Korah's Jordan Lang in discus, and the Sir James Dunn 4-x-100 relay team, who set a new record in their win. Colin Kimball of Sir James Dunn place second in the 200 and 400 meters along with a bronze in the 100 meters.

The Junior Girls saw Jessica Nanne of St. Mary's win both the 100 and 200 meters, along with a second place in the 400 meter race. Christina Hicks of C.A.S.S. picked up two golds in the shot put and discus events. Stevie Reville of St. Basil won the 400 meters, finished second in the 800 meters and placed third in the triple jump. Korah's Jessica Bauer also won three medals with a gold in javelin, silver in high jump and bronze in the 80 meter hurdles. The Sir James Dunn relay team picked up gold in the 4-x-100 event.

Richard McLennan of St. Mary's had dominating day in the Midget Boys division, taking gold and setting new records in the 400 meters and long jump, along with a silver in the 100 meters. Two other records were set in the Midget division, one by Jordan Lake of St. Basil in the triple jump and the other by the St. Mary's 4-x-100 relay team. Lake also finished second in the long jump.

Finally in the Midget Girls, Kaitlin Morin of St. Mary's won the 100 and 200 meter races and finished second in the 400. SMC's Shelby MacDonald finished second in the 80 meter hurdles and long jump while St. Basil's won the 4-x-100 relay.

Competitors will now head to the OFSAA competition to be held in Toronto next week.
