Two locals compete at Canadian Special Olympic Games

Two local Special Olympic athletes competed as members of Team Ontario at the Canadian Special Olympics National Summer Games in Brandon, Manitoba last week.

Jared Macmichael had a strong showing in the pool by winning a silver and two bronze medals in swimming.

Macmichael claimed silver in the 200-metre individual medley while picking up bronze in the 50-metre butterfly and 100-metre backstroke.

Kevin Possamai competed in track and field and finished second in the 400-metre dash while crossing the line fourth in the 100-metre dash and fifth in the 200-metre dash.

Possamai also put forth a golden performance by helping Team Ontario to a first place finish in the 4X100-metre relay.
