Finishing the Bantam Girls Division 200-metre event in 28.95, Samantha Iacoe of St. Theresa set a new record Tuesday at the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board City Elementary Track-and-Field Meet at Jo Forman Track.
Unfortunately, Iacoe's performance wasn't enough for St. Theresa, which finished with 63 points overall, to overtake the championship team from St. Paul, which finished with 99. Our Lady of Lourdes placed third with 62.
Alex Morrison of Ecole Cardinal Leger was among the day's double gold-medal winners. Competing in Bantam Boys, Morrison won the 100m and the softball throw.
From the same school, Celine Valiquette won the 100m and triple jump in Bantam Girls competition.
Nick Tassone of Our Lady of Lourdes was first in both the Pee Wee Boys 100m and 200 metres. In the same division, Dylan Hebert of St. Mary's French Immersion captured the long jump and triple jump.
In Pee Wee Girls, Sister Mary Clare's Alyssa St. Germain topped the field in both the 100m and 200 metres.
There were also two double winners in Novice Boys competition. Dalton Toppan of Our Lady of Lourdes won the 50m and running long jump and St. Patrick's Nicholas Sicoly grabbed the 100 metres and high jump.
