Foster wins 10-kilometre Trail Trot

Laurence Foster had the fastest feet Saturday, winning the 10-kilometre event at the 22nd annual Trail Trot at Kinsmen Park’s Hiawatha Highlands.

Foster was first around the course with a time of 42 minutes, one second. He was followed by Dan Puddister (42:32) and Rick Rutledge (52:18).

Brenda Guitard was the fastest female on the 10-kilometre course, running a time of 43:51, ahead of Janice Mackay (47:00) and Maryanne Rooney (54:11).

Eric Leishman ran the five-kilometre course in 18:17, followed by Ian Roney (19:42) and Tim Pearson (19:49).

In the female five-kilometre, Rhiannon Johns (20:49) came in ahead of Nora-Beth Saunders (21:05) and Jullien Flynn (22:14).

Korah collegiate and vocational school won the high-school five-kilometre boys race, while Sir James Dunn took first in the girls race.

Kye Heimonen was the fastest to run the two-kilometre, with a time of 8:09. Nicholas Tassone (8:10) came in second, followed by John Petingalo (8:22).

In the girls division, Mariah Krancevich (8:28) came in first, followed by Marissa Lobert (8:39) and Lydian Heimonen (8:40).

East View public school won the school team award for first place in the two-kilometre.

A total of 174 runners took part in the event.
