Heimonen, Jones top ADSB elementary track meet

Lydia Heimonen and Andrew Jones were crowned senior champions on Monday in the Algoma District School Board City Elementary Track Meet.

Heimonen came first in both the senior girls 800-metre and triple jump.

Jones, of Mountain View, was first in the 100 metres and the running long jump.

Brett Shewfelt, of Etienne Brule, set a new intermediate boys record with a 27.06 second run in the 200 metres.

Riley Zayet, of Ben R. McMullen, was tops for intermediate boys, placing first in the running long jump and second in the 100-metre dash.

Emma Wilson and Amy Bolton tied for the intermediate girls title. Wilson, of Ben R. McMullen, placed first in the 80 metres and second in the running long jump. Bolton, of William Merrifield, finished first in the 100-metre dash and second in the standing long jump.

Nick Gervasi, of Greenwood, placed first in the 100-metre dash and the high jump to win the junior boys title.

Shae Lynn Sawatsky, of Rosedale, won the 100-metre dash and the running long jump to win the junior girls category.
