Celia Moore, Ben Baldassaro, Anthony Fiaconni, and Jennifer Grant met their Boston Marathon qualifying time.

It was the first marathon for Brennan Cumming, Mark Fisher and Jennifer Grant.

Karen Cowling, from the Sudbury area, was the first female in a time of 2:56:13. Five weeks earlier, on Sept 15, she finished second in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon with a time of 3:01:46. Karen placed 3rd overall and 1st female at the local 2001 Great Lakes Half Marathon with a time of 1:26:39.
